Laguna engineer killed in ambush
BIÑAN CITY, Laguna , Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding men gunned down a 41-year-old maintenance engineer supervisor while on his way to his work at the Manila Toll Expressway System (MATES) along the Southwood Road here yesterday morning, police said.
Superintendent Semacio Gran, Biñan police chief, said the victim, Alvin Hernando, had just come from his house at the Chrysanthemum village in San Pedro town on board his black Mazda pick-up when he was waylaid at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday.
Gran said responding lawmen were able to rush Hernando to the Evangelista Hospital in San Pedro, but he died an hour later. Hernando sustained six bullet wounds.
Gran formed a special investigation team to handle the case.
He said probers would request for a copy of the footage of the closed-circuit television camera installed near the crime scene.
“We have a chance to immediately identify Hernando’s gunmen while the motive has yet to be established,†Gran told The STAR.
