'Nando' displaces more than 7,000 in Luzon, Visayas
MANILA, Philippines - More than 7,000 persons have been affected by tropical storm "Nando," disaster management officials said Thursday.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a total of 7,244 individuals or 1,537 families have been affected by the storm in three regions.
Majority of the affected residents, 4,510 of them, were from the Ilocos region while 2,685 were from Eastern Visayas. The remaining 49 affected persons were from Cordillera.
As of Thursday, 20 families from Tublay in Benguet and three others from Laoag City have been displaced.
The storm has left one person dead and another one injured.
NDRRMC said all national roads in affected areas are now passable.
