Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Around 77 people have been stranded in several ports in Bicol and Northern Luzon due to the bad weather caused by tropical storm "Nando," the state disaster response agency said Wednesday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the stranded individuals are in ports in Bicol, Aparri and San Vicente in Cagayan.

The NDRRMC reported that 12 passenger motor boats were prevented from leaving the ports due to the heavy downpour in the areas mentioned.

The agency initially said that one died --Fernando Briones, 59 of Samar-- and another was injured in Bulan, Sorsogon during the height of weather disturbance.

The NDRRMC also said "Nando" affected 550 families or 2,700 people from villages in Laoag City in Ilocos Norte and 547 families or 2,685 people in Almagro town in Samar.
