'Nando' out of PAR by Thursday: PAGASA

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Storm "Nando" is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by tomorrow, state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the agency said Nando was last spotted at 120 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

It is forecast to move north northwest at 15 kph and is expected to be at 550 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes or outside the PAR by Thursday afternoon.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 is still hoisted over the Batanes Group of Islands while Signal No. 1 is still up at the Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands.

PAGASA warned residents of areas under public storm warning signals as well as those living in the Ilocos Region and Cordillera against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Those living in coastal areas under storm signal no. 2 are also alerted against storm surges.
