3 Cavite college students drown
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Philippines – The bodies of three Cavite college students, including two coeds, who were reported missing last Sunday, were found along the coast here before noon yesterday, police said.
Superintendent Marvin Saro, city police chief, said the bodies of Kimberly Gardias, 19, and Katherine Taroquin, 21, were found by a fisherman, a certain Ernesto Manguiat, 57, in Barangay Looc at around 9 a.m. yesterday.
An hour later, the body of 22-year-old Jay Millapis was recovered.
Saro said they believe the three students of the Adventist University of the Philippines in Silang, Cavite were victims of drowning.
Senior Superintendent Pascual Muñoz, Laguna police director, said the three students were positively identified by Rogelio Barit, assistant security supervisor of the university.
Muñoz said the students had just come from a camping activity when they met the tragedy while reportedly crossing the Dismo River along with some friends last Sunday afternoon. – Ed Amoroso, Arnell Ozaeta
