Drivers block Cavite buses bound for Manila

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Buses plying the Cavite-Manila route on Monday were prevented from going to the Southwest Integrated Provincial Terminal (SIPT) of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority in Pasay City.

Radio reports said the buses were blocked by other bus drivers in several towns, including Imus and Bacoor, in Cavite province.

Under the terminal scheme, the buses are required to go straight to the main terminal in Pasay City to drop and pick up passengers going to Cavite.

An MMDA information officer said there was no ongoing protest against the SIPT.

Authorities have yet to hold a dialogue with the bus operators and drivers, who blocked the Manila-bound buses.
