Metro Manila floods start to subside

MANILA, Philippines - With the gradual calming of the weather on Thursday, floods in several areas in Metro Manila sustained from unceasing rains has started to recede.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that EDSA and C5, which were flooded lightly, are already passable.

All previously flooded areas in Makati City have also been cleared, the city government said on its Twitter account.

Pasig City has also reported that flood-prone areas such as Pag-asa St., Ortigas Extension, Pinagbuhatan and Sandoval were already passable.

Skyway O & M Corporation noted that areas under its watch have also cleared from floodwater.

The Mandaluyong public information office similarly stated that there are "no more floods" as local government has set a cleaning drive.

There are also no reported floods in San Juan City as of posting time.

The Facebook account of Valenzuela City, however, still recorded some flooded areas as of 7:00 a.m.

Some areas in Taguig City remained inundated as well, but the local government said flooded roads are already passable even for light vehicles.

  • MLQ-Wawa (portion) - calf/half knee deep, still passable
  • Bagong Calsada-Vista de Lago - above ankle, still passable
  • Cayetano Blvd Cor Bagong calsada - ankle deep, still passable

Social media users also report some flooded areas.

  • Quirino Highway, Barangay Gulod, Novaliches - ankle deep, still passable
