Marikina River water level subsides but still at Alert level 1

MANILA, Philippines - Marikina River's water level has subsided, but still remains at alert level 1, the city government said on Monday morning.

In its Twitter account, the Marikina government's Public Information Office (PIO) said the Marikina River's water level is at 15.6 meters as of 8:05 a.m.

"Ang basehan ng water level sa Marikina River ay ang stream gauge na matatagpuan sa ilalim ng Marikina Bridge sa Brgy. Sto. Niño. Sa kasalukuyan, ang water level ng Marikina River ay 15.6 meters above sea level," the Marikina PIO said.

The alert level has been downgraded from alert level 2 after the water level rose to 16.1 meters around 12 a.m. with all floodgates open.

Over two thousand people leaving near the river have been evacuated due to fears of massive flooding.
