Seedling subsidy for damaged crops sought

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -Vice President Jejomar Binay yesterday urged the government to subsidize farmers’ crops damaged by Typhoon Labuyo in Cagayan and Aurora provinces.

Binay told Cagayan farmers that the government should subsidize seedlings to replace crops damaged by typhoons and other calamities.

“The government should make seedling subsidy a policy, specially during typhoons,” he said.

The Vice President recalled helping Davao farmers secure loans after a typhoon damaged about 17,000 hectares of banana plantations.
