MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications on Friday said it is mulling extending the bidding for the P60-billion Light Rail Transit Line 1-Cavite extension project.
This after only after one of the four consortiums , which earlier expressed interest to bid in the project, submitted its technical and financial proposal last Thursday to DOTC-Light Rail Transit Authority 's Special Bids and Awards Committee.
The DOTC said three consortiums of MTD-Samsung Group, DMCI Holdings Inc., San Miguel Infrastructure sent their letter of withdrawal in their participation in the bidding of the project.
The Metro Pacific-led Right Manila submitted its proposal, however, its partner, the Ayala Group, withdrew its participation, the DOTC said.
In a statement, DOTC Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said the BAC is looking at the possibility of extending the bidding process and re-evaluating the existing terms to further address the commercial issues raised by the pre-qualified bidders.
He added that the evaluation would be completed in a week, after which next steps in the bidding process will be announced.
The goal of the evaluation and the next steps is to ensure that the construction of the LRT1 Cavite extension will proceed in the second half of 2014 as scheduled, Abaya said.
