3 isolated Aurora towns under state of calamity

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The provincial government of Aurora on Tuesday placed under state of calamity three towns, which have been isolated due to the devastation brought on by Typhoon "Labuyo."

Provincial Governor Gerardo Noveras declared the municipalities of Dinalungan, Casiguran and Dilasag  under state of calamity after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan's special session.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that communications, electricity and transportation remained out in the three towns.

The NDRRMC said that based on initial reports, at least P157 million worth of properties and crops were damaged by the typhoon in the province.

Engineer Elson Egargue, head of the Aurora Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said that they could not get more updates from the three towns because of communication facilities in these areas were down.

The governor was scheduled to conduct an aerial inspection to assess the typhoon's damage on the three towns.
