MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino-Chinese and his five companions were set to be charged before the Department of Justice last night after their arrest for possessing 432 kilos of shabu with a street value of P2 billion in Subic, Zambales.
Albert Chin was accused of being the leader of a group composed of Romeo Manalo, Joselito Esqueta, Coronel Disierto, Emmanuel Erwin Tobias, and Dennis Domingo.
Authorities said of the 432 kilos of shabu, 100 kilos were placed in two balikbayan boxes, while the rest were packed in 22 bags loaded in a white Nissan Urvan parked in Sta. Monica Subdivision in Barangay Sto. Tomas.
Chin tried to escaped but was arrested at the expressway’s Floridablanca, Pampanga exit, along with his driver and bodyguard Manalo. Police found a kilo of shabu in the black Toyota Innova used by Chin in his escape try.
Senior Superintendent Bartolome Tobias, Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) officer-in-charge, believes the shabu was imported as he noted its color and quality.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas hailed the police for the drug seizure.
