2 village execs hunted for assault
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– Police launched a manhunt for a village chairman and a councilman for allegedly assaulting their constituents in separate incidents in Quirino town and Cauayan City, over the weekend.
Wilson Ginez, chairman of Barangay La Suerte in Quirino town, reportedly shot and seriously wounded 67-year-old Francisco Zalun after the latter ran his hand held tractor over the suspect’s rice field, Isabela police spokesman Superintendent Narciso Paragas said.
Meanwhile, Ernesto Arcega Jr., councilman of Barangay San Fermin in Cauayan City, is hunted for allegedly shooting Rolando Sales, 54, a tricycle driver, over a land dispute.
Sales, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body, remains in critical condition as of press time.
