MANILA, Philippines - The police force in General Santos City has been placed on heightened alert following the car bombing in Cotabato City on Monday afternoon, where eight people were killed and scores wounded.
Senior Supt. Froilan Quidilla, city police director, said the additional personnel have also been deployed in strategic areas to avoid a similar attack in the city.
Quidilla said more policemen have been deployed in shopping malls, transport terminals, public markets, air and sea ports, the city hall and all government installations in the city.
“We have increased our deployment at our check points and choke points, especially those situated at the entry and exit points of the city,†he said.
Quidilla said that the city police has also tapped the help of the barangays to ensure peace and security following the bombing.
The police official has also asked the public to be more vigilant and immediately inform the police of any suspicious looking men or baggage in public places.
