Batangas town councilor hurt in ambush

BATANGAS, Philippines – A 43-year-old councilor of Calatagan town here was wounded in an ambush by motorcycle-riding men on Tuesday night, police said.

Councilor Rexio Bautista was cruising the national highway in Barangay Carretonan, Calatagan town along with his wife on board an Isuzu Highlander when he was waylaid at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director.

Hit in the back of his right ear and left arm, Bautista slammed his vehicle on a concrete signage. His wife was unscathed, police said.
