MMDA to spend P49.9M for Marikina River dredging

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is calling on bidders for its proposed P49.9-million project to dredge the Marikina River downstream of Rosario Weir in Pasig City.

MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said the project is part of its anti-flood control plan and will complement the anti-flood project of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

"This intends to increase the absorptive capacity of the Marikina River," said Tolentino of the project, an invitation to bid for which was carried by the Star.

In its invitation to bid, the MMDA said prospective bidders should possess a valid PCAB license applicable to the contract.

The cost of bid documents is P20,000. The documents will be issued until August 19.

The MMDA has set the pre-bid conference for bidders who have purchased the bidding documents on August 5, 2013 at 2 pm at the office of the MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations.

Deadline for the submission of bidding documents is August 19, 2013 at 12 noon with the bids to be opened that same day at 2 p.m. at the office of the MMDA General Manager for Operations.
