9 hunted for farmers’ slay

TUGUEGARAO CITY , Philippines   â€“ Police are now hunting down at least nine people tagged in the killing of three farmers in Pudtol, Apayao last Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Dionisio Bernal, Tubban Luban, Beltran Francisco, Divina Dandan, Gerald Daluguis, Marcelo Luban, Alex Luban, Bryan Bernal and Charlie Igwad, all residents of Kabugao town in Apayao.

Senior Superintendent Albertlito Garcia, Apayao police director, said some of the suspects have sent feelers to surrender and this is being negotiated by their respective tribal leaders.

Farmers Felix Matulot, Jason Acob and Rogelio Rupad were shot dead and their bodies burned over a spat on the “lapat” or the tribal no-fishing zone.
