Bus racing with motorcycle falls into ravine; 22 hurt

ZAMBOANGA City, Philippines - At least 22 people were hurt after a passenger bus allegedly racing with a motorcycle fell into a ravine in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday.

Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the bus of Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. was traveling from Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur and was bound for this city fell into the ravine along the highway in Barangay Tenan at around 10:30 a.m.

Huesca said that the bus, carrying 21 passengers and driven by Felix Lumosad, was racing with a motorcycle when it fell into the ravine.

The victims, including 8-month pregnant Cynthia Cichon, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the bus has surrendered to the police.
