Poll officer probed on unpaid honoraria

Danny B. Dangcalan - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office in Negros Occidental is investigating the case of a missing election officer of Hinobaan town amid complaints of 162 poll workers that they have not yet been paid their honoraria for the May 13 elections totaling P336,000.

Comelec provincial election supervisor Jessie Suarez said Hinobaan election officer Alan Jaro has not been reporting for duty since June 16 and has failed to account for the P336,000 budget for poll workers in his town.

Jaro also failed to show up during a meeting of all election officers in the province last Thursday, Suarez said.
