Female drug carrier yields P1.2M shabu
MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a suspected female drug courier for possession of P1.2 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Las Piñas City.
PDEA chief Arturo Cacdac Jr. said Tuesday that Pejay Madeja, 28, of Sampaguita Street, Bagong Sibol, South Greenheights, Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City, was nabbed by agents during a sting operation last July 12.
Cacdac said anti-narcotics agents apprehended Madeja at around 6:30 p.m. after she delivered the illegal drug to an undercover PDEA agent.
He said the entrapment operation took place inside a popular shopping mall in Las Piñas City.
He said that the confiscated shabu, with a total weight of 241.4 grams worth P1.2 million, was placed inside a brown envelope with a bubble wrap inner lining. The suspect also yielded a mobile phone.
Madeja has been detained at the PDEA custodial facility in Quezon City. She is facing drug charges before the prosecutors' office in Las Pinas.
