Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines –  Security personnel at the Laoag International Airport in Gabu, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte foiled an Irish national’s attempt to smuggle two sticks of marijuana leaves Sunday evening.

Operatives from the Aviation Security Command of the Laoag International Airport arrested Eanna O’Cochlain, 53, an Irish native married to a Filipina from

Batac City.

Authorities at the airport said the Irish was getting through the final inspection before he was about to board a Cebu Pacific airline bound for Manila when the two sticks of dried marijuana leaves inside a Marlboro cigarette pack were detected.

The suspect was immediately endorsed to the Laoag City police’s anti-illegal drugs special operations task group by the security personnel at the airport.

He is now facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
