P2M pirated DVDs, gambling equipment destroyed in Zamboanga
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - To ensure they would no longer find their way back to the black market and gambling dens, the city government destroyed P2-million worth of pirated DVDs, slot machines and other gambling paraphernalia.
Former mayor and now district 1 Congressman Celso Lobregat led the destruction of the confiscated DVDs and slot machines over the weekend at the Plaza del Pilar.
Lobregat personally drove the roller compactor in destroying nine sacks of DVDs and the over 100 units of video ‘carera’ (gambling equipment) that had been seized by police operatives and the Traffic Enforcement Team of the city in a series of operations.
The city and officials from the Optical Media Board (OMB) on February last year also destroyed pirated DVDs and gambling paraphernalia worth over P30 million, said to be the biggest haul in Visayas and Mindanao over the last few years.
