Village chief, wife shot dead in Quezon

MANILA, Philippines - Motorcycle-riding gunmen on Friday shot to death a barangay chairman and his wife while on their way home in Quezon province.

Police said bloodied bodies of Ricardo Romero, 58, businessman, Brgy. Chairman of Brgy Bulakin 2, Dolores; and his wife Wilma, 48, an employee of Metropolitan Trial Court were slumped on their seats of their Toyota Revo (WJV- 839).

Initial investigation showed that at about 6:50 a.m. at the vicinity of Gaurano St. Brgy. Bayanihan, Dolores, the couple were on their way home after delivering bakery products at the barangay when they were  gunned down  by the suspects.

Suspects escaped on board their motorcycle headed toward the direction of San Pablo City.

Police investigators recovered nine spent shells of a cal.45 handgun from the scene.

Dolores police and adjacent police stations conducted pursuit operations against the suspects

Police are still looking into the motive of the killing.
