CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A revamp of police directors in the Calabarzon region looms when the newly elected governors assume office on June 30.
Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon police chief, said governors could choose their respective provincial police directors based on the recommendations of the Senior Officers Promotion Placement Board.
Estipona said the revamp targets overstaying provincial directors or those who have been in their post for almost two years, but failed to curb crime in their area of jurisdiction, as well as those appointed in an acting capacity.
Senior Superintendent Alexander Rafael, officer-in-charge of the Cavite police, is reportedly willing to leave his post before Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla’s new term begins.
Senior Superintendent Deonardo Carlos, who was appointed acting Quezon police director, is also likely to be affected by the revamp.
Senior Superintendent Pascual Muñoz, Laguna police director, reportedly sought the support of Laguna Gov. Jeorge Ejercito to remain in his post.
Local officials and religious groups have reportedly thrown their support behind Senior Superintendents Rolando Anduyan and Rosaurio Acio, provincial police directors of Rizal and Batangas, respectively.
