MANILA, Philippines - Morning classes at a public elementary school in Marikina City were cancelled after a woman circulated news that a bomb will go off inside the school's premises on Tuesday.
Marciana de Guzman, Nangka Elementary School principal, said a certain Mrs. Cruz told parents and guardians outside the school that a bomb is planted inside the building.
"Sinabi nya na may bomba sa eskwelahan kaya yung mga magulang nag-panic at gustong kunin yung mga anak nila," De Guzman said.
She said she was observing one of the classes when the bomb threat was circulated.
To appease the worried parents, De Guzmman said decided to suspend the morning classes and called for police assistance.
As of this writing, a police bomb squad was scouring the school for bombs.
De Guzman said that the suspension of the afternoon classes would depend on the results of the police's clearing operation.
Meanwhile, the police are already looking for the woman who circulated the bomb threat.
