MANILA, Philippines - Transport group Piston will storm the main office of Chevron Philippines in Makati City to hold a protest rally due to the series of fuel price increases.
Piston national president George San Mateo said public utility drivers will troop to the oil company's office at 6750 Bldg. along Ayala Avenue around 10:30 a.m. to condemn the new round of oil price increases.
Chevron and the other members of the so-called Big Three, Petron Philippines and Pilipinas Shell, jacked up the prices of their gasoline products by 45 centavos per liter and diesel and kerosene by 90 centavos per liter at 6 a.m. today.
San Mateo said oil companies has already increased the prices of fuel six times since May 14, a day after the mid-term elections.
"Malaking pahirap ito sa mga drayber at karaniwang consumers. Kinokondena din namin ang kawalang aksyon ni Pnoy na rendahan ang oil price hikes," San Mateo said.
He said the weekly protest actions will culminate on July 22 during the State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III.
