American, wife lose valuables to hospital thieves

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – An American national, his wife and a patient’s watcher lost cash and valuables to thieves inside the Butuan Doctors’ Hospital here yesterday.

The complainants – Gary Hawkins, 45, his Filipina wife Loudelyn Urain, 35, and Jessa Lyn Antipasado Callano, 23 – told police the robbery occurred inside their room.

The Hawkins lost a Kodak camera worth P6,000 and a Nokia cellular phone worth P6,000  while Callano lost her bag containing identification cards, cash and personal belongings.

Police are investigating the incident in coordination with the hospital management.

Meanwhile, a doctor losses P83,000 worth of valuables to burglars who broke into his home in Surigao City on Saturday night.

Danilo Perral, 53, of Barangay Luna, told police the thieves destroyed the grills of the window in the comfort room in order to gain entry and left through the kitchen door.

Perral said the burglars took his Nikon camera, a pair of rubber shoes, four bottles of perfume and jewelry worth P70,000.
