MANILA, Philippines - Militant transport group Piston will stage a protest action on Thursday in front of oil company Shell to denounce the latest oil price increases.
Piston head George San Mateo said the drivers will troop to the head office of Shell around 10:30 am. on Valero Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City.
He said they are protesting the P1.45 per liter increase in diesel and P1.05 per liter increase in gasoline.
With the new oil price increase, San Mateo said that oil companies have hiked a total of P3.25 per liter for diesel and P3.35 per liter for gasoline.
Based on Piston's monitoring, diesel is now priced at P41.40 per liter and gasoline is at P51.55 per liter.
San Mateo said the rates are P6 to P9 higher in the regions of Visayas and Mindanao.
Despite the latest increases, he said that the group is still not contemplating on filing a petition for a fare increase.
