MANILA, Philippines - A grenade was lobbed and exploded early this week just outside a police station in Nueva Ecija, leaving one policeman wounded.
Police reported on Wednesday that the grenade blast happened just outside the police station in Barangay Poblacion Center in Aliaga town at around 2:40 a.m. last Monday.
Police said Senior Police Officer 2 Ramil Sanchez sustained a minor shrapnel injury on his upper left thigh and was brought to a nearby for medical treatment.
The police said that Sanchez and Police Officer 1 Adrian Lapitan were doing a report inside the Aliaga police station when the explosion happened.
The blast rocked the right side of the police station, damaging the vehicle of Chief Inspector Roberto Sena, which was then parked at the garage.
Investigators recovered from the scene a safety lever for a hand grenade and various metal fragments.
Police are still looking into the incident.
