NCRPO reports 'zero' crime since school opening

MANILA, Philippines - There has been no crime in the vicinity of schools in Metro Manila since the opening of classes last week, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported on Monday.

NCRPO chief Director Leonardo Espina attributed the accomplishment through close coordination, cooperation and effort of the NCRPO, police assistance desks (PAD), public school officials and teachers, local government security forces, the parents and students.

Espina ordered the inspection of elementary and high schools and made sure that all policemen assigned at PADs are all working and ready for immediate assistance in case security issues arise.

Espina said that the measure aims to protect the students from petty crimes including snatching and other related crimes.

He said PADs will also be installed to all highly populated private schools, universities and colleges with proper and close coordination with school authorities.

Espina said that PADS in private schools will be activated as they start classes today.
