MANILA, Philippines - Beware of shellfish taken from Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar.
This, after the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) found red tide microorganisms in the bay, prompting a ban on the harvesting and selling of shellfish in the area, according to a report reaching the Department of Health (DOH).
BFAR also reminded the public that a shellfish ban is still in effect in Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur and Murcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental.
