Vintage bombs found in Ecija, Cagayan

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines  – At least 20 World War II bombs and two 81mm mortar shells were found by a man digging a septic tank in Barangay Mapalad, Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija, Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Crisaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija police provincial director, said the bombs were found by Angelito Liwanag, who reported it to the Philippine Army in Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City.

Meanwhile, another vintage bomb was found by workers of a construction site in Cagayan Monday.

Senior Inspector Ruben Verbo, chief of Iguig town police, said the 70-kilo bomb is capable of blowing up a building if not handled properly. – Ric Sapnu, Charlie Lagasca
