Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Police wants to investigate a retired Army sergeant over the death of his wife who was shot in front of a military base in Gamu town, Isabela, shortly after midnight yesterday.

Senior Inspector Noel Pattalitan, chief of Gasmu police station, told The STAR that Lito Lucero reported the killing of his wife, Anita, at around 12:15 a.m.

Lucero claimed they were walking on Zingapan street in Barangay Upi when an unidentified gunman shot his wife. He said Anita was declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Ilagan City, where he brought her.

Pattalitan said Lucero refused to submit himself to a paraffin test. The husband also declined to subject his wife to autopsy.

Pattalitan said they received information that the couple always quarrels, reportedly due to jealousy.

Investigators recovered three shells for a caliber  9mm gun from the crime scene.
