9 soldiers hurt in Bukidnon mishap

MANILA,Philippines - Nine soldiers were wounded in a road accident in Maramag, Bukidnon early morning Thursday, the Army said.

Army spokesman Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang said an M35 truck driven by a certain S/Sgt. Tomarong was traversing the Sayre Highway when it figured in a mishap at about 2:25 a.m.

Cabangbang said the truck rammed into the center island after its driver tried to avoid a motorcycle being driven by someone who appeared to be drunk.

The accident left nine soldiers of the 8th Infantry Battalion wounded.

Maj. Leo Bongosia, spokesman of the Army’s 4th division, said all the injured soldiers were enlisted personnel, whose names were withheld by the military.
