MANILA, Philippines - A man caught selling less than a gram of shabu was slapped with a lifetime term behind bars, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Friday,

The Batangas City Regional Trial Court 84 sentenced Edmar Marcelo to life imprisonment after a 0.30 gram of shabu was found in his possession during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Soro-Soro Karsada in Batangas City in 2011.

Marcelo also yielded another 0.05 gram of the illegal drug when searched by cops.

Aside from life imprisonment, the court also ordered Marcelo to pay a fine of P800,000.

Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac, PDEA director, stressed that regardless of the quantity and purity of the dangerous drugs peddled by arrested drug offenders, they will get life imprisonment if the accused is proven guilty in court.
