Juancho Mahusay - The Philippine Star

CALAPAN CITY, Philippines – Twenty-three cages filled with blue-naped parrots (or pikoy) and mynas were seized in Narra, Palawan last Tuesday, police said.

In a report submitted to Chief Superintendent Melito Mabilin, Mimaropa police director, the Police Maritime Group said four men were arrested after they were found in possession of the parrots and mynas in Barangay Burirao, Narra town. Each bird can reportedly be sold for P3,000 to P5,000.

During interrogation, the suspects denied being directly involved in the illegal trade of endangered birds, saying that a certain Alen owns the birds and pays them P100 daily to feed the animals.
