MANILA, Philippines - Five governors and their vice governors, seven lawmakers and 73 city and municipal mayors in the Mimaropa region have been proclaimed by the provincial board of canvassers.

Juanito Icarro, regional director of the Commission on Elections, said re-elected Romblon Gov. Eduardo Firmalo, along with the governors of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Palawan, were proclaimed last Wednesday.

Firmalo won by a wide margin of votes against his opponents.

In Marinduque, Carmencita Reyes and her daughter, Regina, were proclaimed as winners in the gubernatorial and congressional races, respectively, last Friday.

Chief Superintendent Melito Mabilin, regional director of Mimaropa police, described the elections in Region 4  as generally peacefully with no violent incidents recorded.
