BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – Although no serious poll-related incidents occurred in Baguio City and the six Cordillera provinces, indiscriminate firing was reported in Abra’s capital town of Bangued and nearby Tayum town on the eve of yesterday’s elections, police said.
Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, Cordillera police director, said lawmen promptly responded to these incidents, but failed to arrest anyone.
Power outages were also reported in Abra, Benguet, Kalinga, Mt. Province and Ifugao but were promptly addressed so as not to disrupt yesterday’s balloting.
