Bacoor vice mayor’s brother hurt in ambush

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A brother of Bacoor, Cavite Vice Mayor Edwin Malvar was wounded in an ambush in Barangay Aniban 2 at past midnight yesterday.

Ferdinand Malvar, 48, suffered a gunshot wound in his abdomen and was taken to the Medical Center Hospital in Imus for treatment.

Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, head of the Calabarzon police, said Malvar was driving his car toward Zapote town when the gunmen blocked his path and shot him several times.

Superintendent Rolando Mendoza, Bacoor City police chief, said they have yet to identify Malvar’s attackers.

Mendoza said his men are also investigating whether the attempt on Malvar’s life is related to the killing of two supporters of Bacoor Mayor Strike Revilla last month.
