GMA-7 employee nabbed over gun ban violation

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested an employee of TV network GMA-7 after he tried to attack with a handgun a group of men who threw stones on their house in Nueva Ecija.

Carmelo Dizon, 33, a remote operations coordinator for the news and public affairs of GMA-7, is now facing illegal gun raps because of the incident.

Initial investigation showed that last May 5, a group of men were having a drinking spree beside Dizon's house on Purok Saranay, Brgy. Maragol, Muñoz City arund 10 a.m.

The drunk men reportedly tried to enter Dizon's house, which scared his wife and children who were then inside the house.

To ward off the group, Dizon got hold of his father's homemade cal. 22 firearm and went after the men.

However, barangay watchmen, who responded to the scene, arrested Dizon upon seeing him with a gun.
