DPWH official, wife hacked dead in Quezon
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – An engineer of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and his wife were found dead with hack wounds inside their house in Lucban, Quezon, Saturday.
The bodies of Elmer Alentajan, 53, chief of DPWH-2nd Engineering District Office based in Lucena City, and his wife Generosa, 53, were discovered by their daughter Katrina Mae in separate areas of their house.
Katrina Mae, who had just arrived from work, found her father in the basement and her mother on the third floor of their apartment in Villa Loreto Subdivision, Barangay Kulapi at past 12 noon.
Investigators are looking into robbery as the motive for the killing as some parts of the house appeared to have been ransacked by the suspects.
Police have yet to determine if valuables were taken from the Alentajan home.
Probers said there were indications the couple tried to fight off their atta-ckers, who also killed the family’s dog.
Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon police director, ordered the Lucban police to identify and arrest the couple's killers.
