Suspect in college student’s slay shot dead

CAVITE, Philippines   â€“ A suspect in the killing of a De La Salle University (DLSU) student was gunned down in a shootout with security guards of a subdivision in Dasmariñas City before dawn last Thursday, police said.

The slain suspect, Jerty Roy Sabio, and two companions shot it out with the guards of Metrogate Subdivision. Sabio died on the spot, while one of his alleged cohorts, Romnick Reyes, was nabbed in a follow-up operation. The third suspect is being hunted down.

Police tagged Sabio in the killing of DLSU student Mark Joseph Oliveros. He was also linked to the slay of a Marine as well as a rape case last December.
