Love angle eyed in radioman’s slay

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Police probers were looking into love angle as a possible motive in last Monday’s killing of a part-time radioman in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

“It appears that the incident was not work-related. Although ground police operatives have yet to dig deeper into the real motive, they are inclined to believe it has to do with the love angle,” said Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of the Region 9 police.

Police investigators in Kabasalan town said the victim, Mario Vendiola Baylosis, employed as a company guard of a cooperative, was allegedly having an affair with another woman.

Baylosis, 33, who worked part-time as volunteer disc jockey and announcer of dxLM FM Radyo Natin, was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men shortly before noon last Monday while on his way home along the highway in Barangay Salipyasin, Kabasalan town.

Huesca said police invited two witnesses but they failed to identify Baylosis’ assailants.
