2 Quezon LP supporters killed in accident

MACALAELON, Quezon, Philippines – Two supporters of the Liberal Party were killed while three others were injured when a payloader crashed into the stage that the victims were preparing for the party’s rally in Barangay Pinagbayanan yesterday afternoon.

The fatalities were identified as Cesar Tolentino, 59, and Arnold Tayag, while the wounded were Malou Desembrana, Aries Dean and Minda Gerez.

Senior Inspector Rheden Manalo said one of the victims asked the driver of the payloa-der, Roger Pastrana, if they could use the equipment to hang the tarpaulins on the stage.

Pastrana lost control of the wheel and crashed the payloader into the stage, which collapsed on the victims.
