MANILA, Philippines - A suspected hitman of the Ususan drug syndicate operating in Taguig City was arrested by the city police on Saturday.
Taguig City Police chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Asis identified the suspect as Lenrev Ginez, 21, of 11 Kalayaan St., Barangay Ususan.
Police said Ginez, who has a standing warrant of arrest for murder issued by Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 145 Judge Carlito Calpatura, was arrested at his house at about 1 a.m.
Seized from Ginez was a caliber .45 pistol with eight live bullets, a fragmentation grenade and two plastic sachets of shabu.
Police said Ginez, alias “Revo†is included in their list of top drug personalities. Ginez has been charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, violation of the election gun ban and for illegal drug possession.
Last February 15, the Taguig Police assisted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) nabbed 14 suspected members of the Ususan drug ring, including a former policeman in a raid on Barangay Ususan.
