Clark airport janitor cited for honesty

Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines – A janitor working for the Clark International Airport (CIA)was cited yesterday for returning a black bag containing cash left by a Chinese tourist at the arrival area.

Dominic Bacayo, 29, was commended by CIA operations chief Hilarion Ritchie Nacpil for immediately reporting last March 29 that he found a black sling bag containing Chinese Yuan 2,426, HK$3,920 and P28,000, keys and documents.

Bacayo, a father of two, said the moment he found the bag his instinct told him to return it to its rightful owner.

The owner, Li Weiliang, a Chinese from Hong Kong,  later showed up to claim the bag and thanked Bacayo.

Nacpil could not immediately say what’s in store for Bacayo apart from a commendation citing the janitor for his “exemplary honesty.” Bacayo is not directly employed by the CIA, but by a manpower agency.
