4 drown in Pangasinan
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – A father and his son and two others drowned in separate incidents in Barangays Maniboc and Estanza Sunday morning.
The fatalities were identified as Donato Macam, 44; his son, Damson, 21; Cleomar Justine Verzosa, 14, and his cousin Matthew Pasilao, 19.
Damson was swimming at a beach in Barangay Maniboc when he shouted for help. His brother, Donnel, tried but failed to save him.
Donnel called their father who rushed to save his son, but they both drowned.
Donato’s body was found immediately but Damson was recovered only yesterday.
Meanwhile, Verzosa and Pasilao, both of Pembo, Makati City, were swimming at a beach in Barangay Estanza when a strong current carried Pasilao away.
Pasilao’s brother, Kevin, tried to save him but he, too, nearly drowned.
Army Staff Sergeant Boyet Viray saw Kevin drowning and rescued him.
Versoza tried to save Pasilao but he was also carried away by the current.
