Abu Sayyaf bandits kill Army intel officer in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Abu Sayyaf militants ambushed and killed an Army intelligence operative on Wednesday in a remote town in Basilan, the military said Thursday.

The victim was identified as Corporal Nurhassad Imlani, an intelligence operative assigned with the 18th Infantry Battalion, the 104th Army Brigade reported to the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) here.

Imlani was riding a motorcycle on a crossroad in Barangay Kurellem in Tipo-Tipo town when he was ambushed by the motrocycle-riding gunmen at around 10:30 a.m.

The military said that two of the attackers were positively identified as Abu Parung and Abu Mudzrie, known members of the Abu Sayyaf Group under the command of Puruji Indama alias Abu Dujana.
