MANILA, Philippines - National Police chief Director General Alan Purisima has ordered the creation of a special team that would look into child abductions in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Purisima said Tuesday that he has ordered Chief Superintendent Francisco Uyami, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), to form the special investigating team.
He said that the CIDG team will work with the National Capital Region Police Office, which has also launched investigations on the disapperance of children in the capital.
Purisima's order came after the discovery of a four-year-old boy's cadaver in Rizal province whose internal organs were reportedly missing.
The police chief said that the reports of child abductions should serve as a wake-up call for parents to be more vigilant and attentive to their children.
Purisima also urged the public to immediately report all the incidents of child abductions to the police.
“We need these things to be reported to the police so that we can investigate and subsequently arrest the suspects,†said Purisima.
Purisima explained that the policemen are mandated to receive and act on these kinds of complaint so we are calling on the public to report these incidents to police station and "if their local police do not act on the complaint, then they can report this matter to me at 09178475757."
