24 hurt as bus slams into MRT post

MANILA, Philippines - At least 24 persons were slightly injured after a San Jose, Bulacan-bound passenger bus slammed into a concrete post of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) line along EDSA in Cubao, Quezon City on Monday afternoon.

According to the Metrobase of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Mayamy bus (PWX-758) hit the post at about 2:33 p.m., snarling traffic on the northbound lane of the highway.

The MMDA said those injured were rushed for emergency treatment at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (formerly the Labor Hospital) along C-5.

The damaged bus was still on EDSA as of 4:05 p.m., the MMDA said. The cause of the accident was still being investigated by the MMDA.
